GECO Incorporated celebrated its recent expansion in Mesa with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at its operations in the City's Falcon District, 1754 N. 48th St. GECO is a designer and manufacturer of affordable avionics, including hardware and software, for a wide range of aerospace businesses.
"This expansion is a big win for Mesa, the Falcon District and District 5. We want Mesa to be a technology hub and the role Falcon Field plays in that is pivotal. We are thrilled that GECO has made this commitment to our city and the Falcon District," Vice Mayor and District 5 Councilmember David Luna said.
GECO's recent expansion is specifically for software development for Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) controllers and added 24 jobs. The company plans a major expansion later this year that will more than triple its air-conditioned workspace. It will be used for engineering, design, software and hardware development as well as manufacturing and assembly for all their programs, which include avionics, UAS controllers, autonomous vehicle systems and other communication systems. Construction should take about nine months. GECO expects to add 75 jobs over the next few years.
"We are proud to support defense programs that represent the future of aerospace," GECO President and CEO Jennifer Graves said. "This expansion allows us to apply our expertise to develop universal hand controllers for military operators, which will control tactical unmanned air and ground systems."
Founded in 1995, GECO is a woman-owned small business. Customers include Boeing, General Dynamics and the U.S. Army.
