District 6 Councilmember Kevin Thompson has been re-appointed to the National League of Cities' (NLC) Community and Economic Development (CED) Federal Advocacy Committee for 2018. This will be Councilmember Thompson's third term on the committee. The appointment was announced by NLC president Mark Stodola, mayor of Little Rock, Arkansas. Thompson was also named Vice Chair of the committee.
The CED Committee is charged with issues dealing with housing, community and economic development, land use, parks and recreation, historic preservation and international competitiveness.
"Holding a leadership position on the CED committee is a great honor and is something I can't wait to get started with," Councilmember Thompson said. "Economic Development is paramount in Mesa and part of my promise to the citizens was that I'd work to bring jobs so that our community could stop exporting labor to other communities. Being able to share ideas and strategies with other leaders from around the country is an extremely valuable tool to have at our disposal and I look forward to utilizing it as much as I can."
