The SOURCE Conference 2018 Southwest cybersecurity and information security (infosec) event will be held at the Mesa Convention Center Feb. 26 to March 1.

The internationally known and highly regarded SOURCE Conference security event was developed by Big Brain Security, and first launched in 2008. The SOURCE Conference is a leader in premier, business-focused, cybersecurity events and holds conferences every year in North America and Western Europe. The 2018 lineup of host cities includes Mesa; Boston; Seattle; Austin and Dublin, Ireland.

"The City of Mesa is honored to be selected by SOURCE Conference as a host city. Cybersecurity is one of our top priorities and this important conference brings business, technology and security professionals together to focus on practical solutions for some of today's toughest security issues," Mesa Chief Information Officer Travis Cutright said.

The SOURCE team scouted many cities and ultimately selected Mesa because of the area's tremendous technological and economic growth.

"We're coming to Mesa because we're confident the city is positioned to be one of the top places for technology and business over the next decade," Rob Cheyne, owner of the SOURCE Conference and CEO of the consulting agency Big Brain Security, said. "We see Mesa, and the greater Phoenix region, as being on the cutting edge of some of the most exciting fields, including autonomous vehicles, IoT, and of course, cybersecurity."

The conference has gained immediate attention and support from local organizations and government business development groups. Mesa and the greater Phoenix area has developed a multifaceted effort to draw technology talent and organizations to the area with a long-term view of becoming the national center for emerging technologies.
