Public meeting for Mesa Sign Code update

February 14, 2018 at 8:43 am

The City is asking for public comment regarding an update to the Mesa Sign Code. A public meeting will be held Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the Fire Station 201 Community Room, 360 E. First St.

A public review draft of the Mesa Sign Code update is available at www.mesaaz.gov/business/development-services/planning/sign-ordinance-update.

Questions and comments pertaining to the Sign Code update can be emailed to signinfo@mesaaz.gov.

The update is being developed to make it more user-friendly, consistent with the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Reed. v. Town of Gilbert and to update requirements for both portable and permanent signs. The last major update to the Mesa Sign Code was in 1986 with several sections receiving minor revisions since that time. The current sign code is part of Mesa's Zoning Ordinance - Title 11, Chapter 41.

The proposed sign ordinance is being presented to various review boards for comment. The goal is to present the final ordinance to City Council for consideration by mid-2018.
