Cozy Con for aspring writers at Red Mountain Library

May 10, 2018 at 5:55 pm

Discover the next generation of amateur sleuths written by authors in your own backyard. Red Mountain Library, 635 N. Power Road, will host Cozy Con Saturday, May 19 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Aspiring writers are invited to meet authors from the Sisters in Crime Desert Sleuths Chapter. The event includes author panels, chats about traditional mysteries and book signings.

A Cozy mystery, according to Wikipedia, is a subgenre of crime fiction in which sex and violence are downplayed or treated humorously, and the crime and detection take place in a small, socially intimate community. The detectives in such stories are nearly always amateurs, like Jessica Fletcher in Murder, She Wrote or Miss Marple in Agatha Christie's Miss Marple Mysteries.

The Sisters in Crime Desert Sleuths Chapter includes authors, readers, publishers, agents, booksellers and librarians bound by their affection for the mystery genre and their support of women who write mysteries. Sisters in Crime was founded in Baltimore in 1986. They welcome both men and women and writers of any genre. For more about the organization, visit www.DesertSleuths.com.
