Are you an electrical contractor, urban planner or work in multifamily housing? If so, the City of Mesa wants you to apply to be on an advisory board or committee. Some of Mesa's boards and committees have positions that require specific professional background requirements. Right now, the following positions are open:

The Building Board of Appeals recommends changes to the building and fire codes; determines suitability of alternate materials and construction methods; interprets Building and Fire Regulations and hears appeals. The board is looking for one Electrical Contractor or Electrical Engineer and one Homebuilder specializing in one or two dwelling units.

The Design Review Board reviews plans for large buildings, multiple residential projects, commercial and industrial projects with arterial frontage, parking garages and City of Mesa municipal projects. The board is looking for a Building Design Professional with experience in engineering, urban planning, interior design or other design related background.

The Housing and Community Development Advisory Board advises the Mesa City Council on housing, community development, social service priorities, funding and planning across the community. The board is looking for one multifamily housing representative. Experience must be in multifamily corporate management, not for profit developers of multifamily housing or ownership of multifamily developments.

In addition to these requirements, all applicants must be Mesa residents. Apply online at www.mesaaz.gov/boards. The deadline to apply is June 4. For more information contact Mayor John Giles' Chief of Staff Ian Linssen at ian.linssen@mesaaz.gov.
