Piper Plastics, Inc, a global provider of high performance polymer materials, precision molded and machined plastic components and assemblies, announced today it will build its 90,000-square-foot, North American Research and Development Tech Center at 1705 N. 48th St. in the City of Mesa's Falcon District.

"Mesa laid the groundwork for a high-tech, advanced business hub at Falcon that is growing by the minute," Mayor John Giles said. "Piper Plastics' new North American Research and Development Tech Center is exactly what we envision for the area. Welcome to Mesa!"

Piper Plastics will invest $10 million to build the facility and will begin operations with 130 employees and ramp up to more than 175 over the next three years with an average hourly wage of $20-25 per hour. The company expects to begin construction in July of this year and start operations by June 2019.

"I am very excited to welcome Piper Plastics to District 5 and the Falcon District," District 5 Councilmember and Vice Mayor David Luna said. "They have shown a major commitment to our City and the area around Falcon Field and we are very fortunate that they will be calling Mesa their new home."

Piper Plastics manufactures products for the medical, aerospace, defense, energy, semiconductor, electronics, food packaging, and other advanced technology industries.

"Falcon Field area is a great place to grow our business," Randy White, President of Piper Plastics, said. "Our parent company, Mitsubishi Chemical Company, chose to invest in Piper Plastics, as well as to build our new Technology Center for North America in Mesa due to the growing skilled and young workforce, ideal climate, and excellent infrastructure in support of manufacturing business. We cannot wait to move in!"

"Because of the skilled workforce Arizona can provide, the state has become an ideal location for high-tech research and development, as evidenced by yet another global company choosing to operate here," Sandra Watson, President & CEO of the Arizona Commerce Authority, said. "We congratulate Piper Plastics on their expansion and look forward to their future success."
