Applications being accepted for Hometown Heroes Banner Program

September 5, 2018 at 11:39 am

The City of Mesa Hometown Heroes Banner Program is a living tribute created for the community to recognize and honor Mesa residents and their family members who are serving or who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. Applications are being accepted for this year's banners through Monday, Oct. 1.

Each banner will honor a specific Mesa service person and will include their name, branch of service and photo, if provided. Banners will be displayed on street lamps along Center Street in downtown Mesa throughout the course of one year, including Veterans Day and Memorial Day, to both celebrate and remind the community of their dedication to our country. After one year, each banner will be removed and given to the serviceperson or a family member.

The banners are funded through tax-free donations. The cost of each banner is $150. Applications can be submitted online, by email or mail. For more information, visit www.mesaaz.gov/heroes.

The Hometown Heroes Banner Program is administered by the City of Mesa Diversity Office in collaboration with the Downtown Mesa Association.
