Scary Stories Writing Contest at Mesa Public Library

October 2, 2018 at 12:24 pm

Third graders through fifth graders are encouraged to write the scariest stories they can in 750 words or less. All branches of Mesa Public Library are holding the first-ever Scary Stories Writing Contest. Entry forms are available at the children's service desks. The deadline to submit scary stories is Saturday, Oct. 20 at 5 p.m.

The scary stories must take place in the eerie town of Mesa! Writers should ask themselves these questions: Will my readers be on the edge of their seats? Also, will readers want to share my story with others?

Winners will receive a ghoulish prize and their stories will be read at "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" Monday, Oct. 29 at Main Library and Tuesday, Oct. 30 at Red Mountain Branch. Both events begin at 6:30 p.m.
