Great Turkey Tuesday Nov. 20

November 14, 2018 at 9:48 am

Help us reach our goal of 1,500 turkeys to help the less fortunate this holiday season. The City of Mesa is partnering with United Food Bank for Great Turkey Tuesday, Nov. 20 at the Mesa Convention Center, 263 N. Center St., from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

"Turkey is the centerpiece of Thanksgiving dinner and there are families in Mesa and across the east valley who are struggling to put one on the table this year. The annual Great Turkey Tuesday is here to help," Mayor John Giles said. "Mesa residents and businesses have been extremely generous in donating turkeys in the past and I know they are ready to reach 2,000 this year."

Come toss your turkey into the United Food Bank truck. City employees will be collecting turkeys, canned goods and cash to benefit United Food Bank. Monetary donations can also be made online at http://give.unitedfoodbank.org/ge/turkeytuesday or by texting TURKEYTUESDAY to (480) 800-0468.

"For those who are hungry, Thanksgiving is just another day for people who struggle to feed their families," United Food Bank CEO Dave Richins said. "The Great Turkey Tuesday event by the City of Mesa will provide a nutritious holiday meal to families in our communities. Each turkey donated and distributed is a blessing for the recipient family or individual and offers hope for a brighter year ahead."

Great Turkey Tuesday is a collaboration between the City of Mesa, City of Mesa Community Spirit, United Food Bank and Mesa Chamber of Commerce.
