May the Fourth Be With You at Mesa Public Library

There has been an awakening in the force - at the library! Mesa Public Library is celebrating Star Wars Day with lots of family-friendly activities on -when else - Saturday, May the Fourth at the Main Library, Red Mountain Library and Dobson Ranch Library.

Main Library, 64 E. First St., will have the following May the Fourth Be With You events:

Star Wars Storytime
10:30 a.m. - 11 a.m.
Gather with other little Padawans for our Star Wars themed storytime from a galaxy far, far away...

Get Crafty
11 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Celebrate May the Fourth with activities, crafts and photo ops with fun backdrops. All ages.

Make and Take
11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Calling all Jedi and Rebels: we'll have drop-in crafts including Perler Beads, Star Wars snowflakes and green screen photographs! Picture yourself in a whole new galaxy in THINKspot. Ages 12+.

Costume Contest
11:30 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.
Put on your finest Star Wars duds to compete in our costume contest. We'll award winners in two categories: Kids ages 0-14 and Teens/Adults ages 15+.

Free Comic Book Day
All Day
Celebrate Free Comic Book Day at the library and help yourself to a free comic book to take with you.

Red Mountain Library, 635 N. Power Road, will have the following May the Fourth Be With You events:

The Force is Strong with this Slime
11 a.m. - 12 p.m.
Use the Force, you will, to squish and squash your very own galaxy glitter slime in THINKspot. Supplies are limited. Ages 10+.

Now Showing: Star Wars: The Last Jedi
2 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Rey learns the ways of the Force from Luke Skywalker, and develops a telepathic bond with Kylo Ren, who is struggling to master the Dark Side. (C)Walt Disney Pictures. Rated PG-13.

Dobson Ranch Library, 2425 S. Dobson Road, has the following May the 4th Be With You event:

3 p.m. - 4 p.m.
Celebrate Star Wars Day with activities and snacks.

May the Fourth Be With You will also have kickoff events for Mesa Public Library's Summer Reading Program, which officially begins June 1. There will be small incentive prizes for those who sign up that day, while supplies last. This year's Summer Reading theme is A Universe of Stories, it will be out of this world! Summer Reading programs are open to all ages from infants through adults at all four branches of the Mesa Public Library.
