Celebrate Mesa returns with fall festival Oct. 19

Celebrate Mesa, a free party in the park, celebrates the fall season with a wide variety of games, carnival rides, entertainment and more Saturday, Oct. 19 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Red Mountain Soccer Complex, 905 N. Sun Valley Blvd.

Families are encouraged to dress up for Halloween, grab a special treat at the entrance, go trick-or-treating at all City department booths, check out the Police and Fire vehicles and tour a haunted bus. Free raffle prizes and give-a-ways will also be available, along with a free showing of the movie The Secret Life of Pets 2 at 7:30 p.m.

There are several new features this year:

The Circus Farm, based in Mesa, will have a juggler and two aerialists, audience participation included!

Craft Nights by the Hippie Hobby includes free painting classes that teach you how to create a painting in five minutes!

AZ Dueling Pianos featuring Lark & Wes

Celebrate Mesa will include live music from Mesa's own Blu Joy Band, a mobile escape room and a petting zoo. Battle of the Bands returns for the second consecutive year featuring youth bands with the grand prize of a studio recording at Stem Recording.

There will be bounce houses, kids rides and lots of other free activities. For $5, you can buy a wristband to give you unlimited use of the carnival rides (age and height restrictions may apply). You can also get your photo taken with Star Wars characters like Princess Leia, Darth Vader and Stormtroopers and other Disney characters like Spider-Man, Belle, Anna, Tiana and Maleficent.

Arizona Disabled Sports will be selling water, T-shirts and glow items to support athletes with disabilities. Donations will support the athletes for upcoming competitions.

City staff will survey attendees about the event. Participants will have the opportunity to win a $50 Amazon gift card.
