Red Mountain Center, located at 7550 E. Adobe St., invites residents to its 25th Anniversary Open House on Saturday, March 16 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The free family event will include carnival games, kids activities, a bounce house and other inflatables, rock climbing, food trucks and more! The i.d.e.a. Museum; Arizona Museum of Natural History; Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities and other city departments will have displays.
The celebration will also include a tree planting at 10:30 a.m. A 36-gallon Red Push Pistache tree, which changes colors with the seasons, will replace the beloved "Hug-A-Tree" that was lost during a monsoon storm last summer. "Hug-A-Tree" was part of the Parks and Recreation's "I Love My Park" campaign.
"Red Mountain Center's 25th anniversary is quite a milestone. It has many great amenities, like the fitness center and an indoor rock wall. Still, the most important thing it offers is the passion for the community," said District 5 Councilmember Alicia Goforth. "This is a place for people of all ages to gather and connect and engage in health and wellness activities."
"Red Mountain Center is a point of pride in our community and for the Parks and Recreation employees who have worked here through the years," said Andrea Moore, Mesa Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities Director. "The center is always bustling with so many different activities for all age groups and truly symbolizes our department's 'Your Place to Play' motto."
The 65,000-square-foot multi-use facility offers group fitness classes and fitness coaching, drop-in basketball, a kids club, youth activity center and facility rentals to host everything from wedding receptions to rock climbing. More information is available on the Red Mountain Center webpage.
