To celebrate Aprils Valley Bike Month, Mesa is inviting the public to participate in three great bicycle events Arizona Bicycling Summit, CycloMesa Festival and Bike to Work Day.

Arizona Bicycling Summit Friday, April 5
Check out the Arizona Bicycling Summit on April 5 at the Mesa Convention Center, located at 263 N. Center St. The summit, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., gathers leaders, educators, planners, public health professionals and cyclists of all kinds to talk about current issues related to Arizona cycling and plan the future. Wide-ranging discussions cover items such as cycling nonprofits, city infrastructure and how to get more cycles on the roads. The summit also offers exhibits and raffles, and it has been known to end with a group ride. Tickets to the summit start at $10 for students.

CycloMesa Festival - Saturday, April 6
CycloMesa is back on April 6! The annual free festival will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Plaza at Mesa City Center, located at 56 E. Main St. in downtown Mesa. Festivalgoers can watch BMX Freestyle stunt shows and roller Derby demos, create spin art using the pedal power of a bicycle, participate in a scavenger hunt, listen to live bands performing on the Mesa Music Festival Stage hosted by Alt AZ personality Dustin, climb a rock wall and more. Special kids programming includes a bike rodeo hosted by Phoenix Children's Hospital, giant inflatables, face painting and a Decoration Station from Mesa Public Library. New activities this year include a photo opportunity on a multi-person bicycle sculpture, testing your strength and speed on the bicycle sledgehammers, getting a cartoon drawing of yourself on a bicycle and playing 9-hole mini golf. Of course, there will be helmets and bicycle safety gear for anyone who needs it while supplies last.

Bike to Work Day - Wednesday, April 17
Get ready to ride during Mesa's Bike to Work Day, April 17, from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. The annual event encourages commuters to bike to work (or anywhere they need to go), helping save money and improve health -- all while reducing traffic congestion and improving air quality. This is the second year the event is open to anyone who lives, works or enjoys spending time in Mesa. Commuters can join the group ride or bike directly to the party at the Plaza at Mesa City Center, located at 56 E. Main St. The first 300 people to RSVP and check in at the Mesa Bike to Work Day celebration will receive a limited-edition T-shirt designed by local artist Kyllan Maney and a voucher to use for breakfast that morning. All attendees can enjoy music from a local DJ, a photo opportunity, and complimentary coffee.
