A grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony has been held for Santander Consumer USA at Centrica, a creative adaptive reuse project at 1550 W. Southern Ave. in Mesa's Fiesta District. Santander Consumer USA, a full-service, technology-driven consumer finance company focused on vehicle finance, third-party servicing and delivering superior service to more than 2.7 million customers across the full credit spectrum, currently employs 188 people at its Mesa location and plans to employ more than 970 over three years.
"With nearly one thousand jobs projected over the next few years, Santander Consumer USA has chosen a prime location for their new full-service office and operations center," Mayor John Giles said. "Mesa's Fiesta District is near U.S. 60 and Loop 101 and provides a great revitalized setting for employees to enjoy their workday. Congratulations Santander, we wish you the best of success."
Santander Consumer USA, based in Dallas, is an established U.S consumer finance company opening its first office in Arizona, and is leasing the entire 117,000 square foot Centrica project. Centrica was transformed from a vacant retail center into single story Class A creative office space, more than 700 parking spots and redundant fiber optic backbone connectivity.
"I'm thrilled to welcome Santander to the Fiesta District in Mesa. Their addition to the area is a great example of how the City has focused on revitalizing the Fiesta District and was the reason we were so excited to have the Centrica project be a part of it," Vice Mayor Dennis Kavanaugh said.
Additional partners, including the Arizona Commerce Authority and the Greater Phoenix Economic Council, worked with the City to support and facilitate a Mesa location for Santander Consumer USA's new office facility.
