Looking for a way to give back? You can learn about volunteering in the City of Mesa and how to get involved at a Volunteer Recruitment Fair Wednesday, April 18 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Mesa Main Library, 64 E. First St., in the Saguaro Room.
We will have volunteer opportunities from several City departments, including Mesa Fire and Medical; Mesa Police; Mesa Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities; Mesa Public Library; Mesa Arts Center; Arizona Museum of Natural History; i.d.e.a. Museum and Mesa Neighborhood Outreach. It is a great way for residents from teens to seniors give back to their community, fulfill service hours and learn different City functions.
The Volunteer Recruitment Fair is part of the City of Mesa's celebration of National Volunteer Week April 15-21. In 2017, volunteers combined to donate more than 172,500 hours of service to the City providing a value of more than $4.1 million.
The City has an online system to search for volunteer opportunities based on area of interest, length of time commitment and more. You can access it at www.mesaaz.gov/volunteer.
One major event needing volunteers is the Republic Services Arizona Celebration of Freedom Wednesday, July 4. To register, visit www.azcelebrationoffreedom.org.
