Able Aerospace Services, a Textron Aviation Inc. company, today joined with dignitaries from the East Valley, Phoenix and Phoenix Mesa Gateway Airport to celebrate the groundbreaking of a 50,000-square-foot expansion at its headquarters within Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport in Mesa, Arizona.

The expansion allows Able to enhance the technology used in its repair and overhaul process, and to diversify into new product and service offerings. It is also expected to generate as many as 100 new skilled aerospace jobs over the next two years at the Mesa facility, where it operates as an industry-leading aircraft Component Repair and Overhaul (CRO) provider.

"We are proud that Able Aerospace Services has chosen to expand in southeast Mesa. They are an exceptional business leader in aerospace maintenance, repair and overhaul for both military and civilian aircraft," said City of Mesa Mayor John Giles. "It has been exciting to watch Able's number of high-quality jobs grow since moving to the Gateway area in 2013, and we are thrilled to welcome up to 100 more with this expansion."

"Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport has been an excellent home for Able, allowing us to grow significantly in our size, capabilities and revenue," said Able Aerospace Services General Manager Gabriel Massey. "We are grateful for the support we've received from the City of Mesa and the Airport Authority, and we look forward to all that Able will continue to contribute to the Valley's growing aerospace market."

Able relocated to its new headquarters at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport in 2013. Since that time, it has added more than 200 employees and expanded its footprint, adding new mezzanine space, a new paint facility and the build-out of hangar space that is now home to the Able Maintenance Center.

"The Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport Authority values Able Aerospace Services as a home-grown success story," said Jeff Serdy, Mayor of Apache Junction and Chair of the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport Authority. "Able's continued investment at Gateway Airport represents an expansion of aviation-related services and a significant number of additional high-wage jobs for the region."

"Able Aerospace Services has been a great contributor and a tremendous success story for not only District 6 but the entire City of Mesa, and I could not be more excited that they have decided to grow and expand their Mesa operation," said Mesa Councilman Kevin Thompson. "They have played a major role in the development of the Gateway Airport area, and this addition will cement their status as a key stakeholder in District 6 and the City of Mesa."

In 2015, Able was acquired by Textron Aviation, Inc., becoming an essential component of the aviation company's global customer service network.

"Able's world-class support aligns with our mission to provide customers with the resources needed to thrive and succeed as aircraft operators," said Textron Aviation Senior Vice President, Customer Service Kriya Shortt. "With this expansion, the Able team will broaden its service offerings even further, truly making it the CRO provider of choice in the aviation industry."

From its purpose-built location, Able delivers more than 10,000 FAA-approved component repair, overhaul, parts and aircraft completion solutions for civilian and military, fixed- and rotor-wing operators in more than 60 countries. The Able Maintenance Center - located within the Able campus - delivers airframe repair and completion services, avionics upgrades and full paint services. All in-house work is completed by Able's team of more than 450 highly trained mechanics, engineers, customer service and sales specialists.

Construction is now underway on the Able expansion space, with move-in slated for summer 2019.
