Mesa City Council has appointed Judge David Allen as a new Municipal Court Magistrate. He was sworn-in at the Feb. 28 City Council meeting.
Judge Allen is a 2004 graduate of the James E. Rogers College of Law at the University of Arizona and has worked in private practice and in public service. Prior to his new assignment, he was appointed as a court commissioner with Mesa Municipal Court in 2020.
"It is an honor to be selected to continue serving the public, specifically the Mesa community, with this appointment as Mesa Municipal Court Magistrate," said Judge Allen.
Judge Allen was a trial attorney for several years with the Maricopa County Attorney's Office, where he ultimately prosecuted white-collar crimes in the Major Crimes Division. He later was appointed as an Administrative Law Judge with the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) in 2012 and also served as a Judge Pro Tem for Maricopa County Superior Court during that time. He briefly worked as a court commissioner for the city of Tempe before returning to private practice in 2015. In 2018, he was appointed a second time as an Administrative Law Judge with ADOT before working in Mesa as a court commissioner.
