Expansion Project Starts at Red Mountain Park

The City of Mesa has started construction work on a major expansion and improvement project at Red Mountain Park, 7745 E. Brown Road.

"The Red Mountain Park expansion is important to the community and a priority for Mesa residents, who have asked us for more soccer fields and ball diamonds," said Councilmember David Luna. "This project will significantly meet that need."

The park, which opened in 1987, is getting ten new regulation-size multiuse fields, including soccer; four youth baseball/softball fields; an expanded parking lot, two new restroom facilities; new landscaping and other improvements. The project relocated and updated the current north disc golf course impacted by construction. While the City will provide disc golf course modifications, park-goers can expect restrictions to disc golf and the equestrian trails during the construction of the multiuse fields.

"The expansion of Red Mountain Park will greatly enhance what we offer residents and athletic teams who will use the fields and disc golf courses," said Andrea Moore, Director of Mesa Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities.

The project will cost approximately $30 million, funded by a General Obligation Bond approved by Mesa voters in 2018. The Red Mountain Park expansion and improvement project is expected to be completed by the spring of 2024.
