Volunteer Coaches Needed for Mesa Flag Football and Volleyball Leagues

The City of Mesa's Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities (PRCF) Youth Sports program is urgently seeking volunteer coaches to help run its upcoming Flag Football and Volleyball leagues.

"Each season, our program recruits hundreds of volunteer coaches to facilitate our youth sports leagues. This season, we are extremely short on coaches and need help from the community in recruiting more coaches so we can run these amazing youth programs," said Andrea Moore, PRCF Director. "This is a tremendous opportunity to connect with some great kids while keeping the programs affordable. It is a minimal, flexible commitment."

PRCF expects more than 500 kids to participate in flag football and volleyball this fall which means there are opportunities for more than 70 volunteer coaches to start both leagues. No prior coaching experience or subject knowledge in the sport is required. Parks and Recreation staff will train coaches. The commitment is about two hours per week for the season, and practices are on a day, Monday through Thursday, in a location and at a time of the coach's choosing.

Each coach gets a free voucher to enroll their child in the league and will be given a voucher for a free future enrollment if already enrolled. If you feel like you can coach, Mesa Parks and Recreation is the place for you!

"We are excited to provide even more resources and incentives to our coaches this year, thanks to our partnership with NFL Flag Football. If you know anyone who would be a great fit, have them join our team. It's a great way to get involved in our community," said Jason Hendrix, PRCF Recreation Supervisor.

The minimum requirements to coach are being at least 18 years old and applicants must pass a fingerprinting background check. Contact jason.hendrix@mesaaz.gov for the application materials.
