Mesa is celebrating the completion of the expansion and renovation of the Dobson Ranch Library, 2425 S. Dobson Road. The ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the completion of the most significant renovation at Dobson Ranch Library since it opened in 1987. The construction project that began in February 2022 expands the library's footprint by 1,600 square feet and adds a THINKspot makerspace for community innovation and networking.

"Mesa Public Library offers unique and innovative programs, and we appreciate the support of the voters who approved a bond issue to help make the Dobson Library expansion and THINKspot addition possible," said Mayor John Giles.

Funding for the project is from the Parks and Culture Bonds issue approved by Mesa voters in 2018.

"From staying connected with family and friends or learning a new skill, our libraries give our community a free, safe space to learn, grow, and thrive," said District 3 Councilmember Francisco Heredia. "These new upgrades will enhance the experience of visiting Dobson Ranch Library."

The library's fa?ade has been updated, and outdoor lighting has been improved, adding greater visibility to the building and more convenience for library users. THINKspot offers a Makerspace with a 3-D printer, Glowforge laser cutter, gaming systems and a variety of STEAM (Science, Technology, Art, Math, Engineering) activity kits for kids of all ages. It also features a studio for video production and podcasting equipment, and the main THINKspot room adds additional space for programming.

"The Dobson Ranch Library remodel and expansion is a major boost for our patrons and enhances the library experience," said Polly Bonnett, Mesa Public Library Director. "Adding THINKspot to our third City library will offer even more people the opportunity to be creative and share innovative ideas through the technology we offer."
