During March and April, the Mesa Police Traffic Unit will be leading Operation Safer Streets. This will be a selective enforcement detail targeting driving behaviors that are contributing factors of fatal and serious injury collisions. In 2022, there were 44 fatal collisions and over 1000 injury collisions in the City of Mesa. Officers will be concentrating on contributing factors such as speeding, distracted driving, unsafe vehicle operations and pedestrian violations. This enforcement detail will occur at various days and times. We encourage the public to obey all traffic laws and especially want them to put down their electronic devices while driving; slow down, be aware of other vehicles and pedestrians entering their pathway, and don't drive impaired.
