The City of Mesa's Community Engagement team is holding its free Resident's Guide to Mesa class this month to educate and support neighborhood leaders to improve their communities. The Resident's Guide to Building Community will take place Tuesday, Sept. 19, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Hermosa Vista Elementary School, 2626 N. 24th St.

The goal of the class is to create an action plan and have tangible next steps to connect with more people in the neighborhood. During the meeting, participants will learn how to plan a neighborhood get-together, start a neighborhood watch, organize a neighborhood cleanup and discuss adding speed bumps on their street. Registration is required for the class due to limited seating.

The next Resident's Guide class will be Community and Civic Engagement on Tuesday, Nov. 14, at City Council Chambers, 57 E. 1st St. All Resident's Guide classes begin at 6 p.m.

The City's Community Engagement team is also offering a Resident's Guide to Homeowners Associations class. The monthly virtual seminars on hot topics and laws about Arizona HOAs and condos conclude with a question-and-answer session. Residents can find more information and register for these classes at mesaaz.gov/neighbor.
