Mesa's Historic Home Tour is back with a holiday theme. The popular event, benefiting the Mesa Historical Museum, will be on Saturday, Dec. 9 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Historic Home Tour will feature 10 homes in various architectural styles including Craftsman Bungalow, Spanish Colonial Revival, Tudor Revival, Mission Revival, Pueblo Revival and Ranch, decorated for the holidays, in the West Second Street and Evergreen historic districts. This is the first time since before the pandemic that Mesa historic homes will open to the public.
The West Second Street Historic District is the oldest historic district in Mesa and offers the most diverse architectural styles of any such district in the City. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1999, this historic district is noted for its architectural merits and its historic association with the evolution of Mesa's most prominent families from the early 20th century.
The Evergreen Historic District became the first neighborhood in 1909 to include subdivisions platted beyond the original square mile of Mesa. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999, this historic district is significant for its association with the development of a cohesive neighborhood of middle and upper-class families in Mesa from 1910 to 1948.
Tickets are $20 and are available online or on the evening of the tour until 7 p.m. at Haus 109, located at 109 W. University Drive. Online ticket holders will need to check in at Haus 109 to get wristbands and a souvenir book and map of the tour locations. No one is allowed inside the homes without a wristband. All proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Mesa Historical Museum.
