The City of Mesas Community Engagement team is holding a free Residents Guide to Mesa class to educate and support neighborhood leaders to improve their communities. The Residents Guide to Community and Civic Engagement will take place Tuesday, Aug. 13, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Mesa City Council Chambers, 57 E. First St.
The 90-minute class will teach attendees the ins and outs of City government and how to become more involved in decision making, taking leadership roles beyond the neighborhood and into the community. The class will also discuss the impact of serving on City advisory and nonprofit community boards and how to be appointed to one. Registration is required for the class due to limited seating.
The Citys Community Engagement team is also offering Residents Guide to Homeowners Associations classes. The free, monthly virtual seminars cover hot topics and laws pertaining to Arizona HOAs and condos. All of the classes are on Tuesdays from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.:
Aug. 20 - What is a Community Association and Secrets of Successful Associations
Sept. 17 - The ABCs of Enforcement for HOAs and Condos
Oct. 15 - Legislative Update, Federal Laws and Preventing Crime and Limiting Liability in Community Associations
