Jr. Suns Youth Basketball is back again in Mesa and this winter Mesa Parks and Recreation is introducing a Co-ed Youth Basketball League for boys and girls ages 7 to 14 years old. In addition, the City is bringing back our popular Youth Basketball Kinder Clinic for kids ages 5 and 6.
Families can sign-up today for one of the co-ed youth basketball divisions, with teams in the 7-8, 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14 age groups. Registration for the league and Kinder Clinic will be available until Dec. 30 or when the league is full.
The City of Mesa Parks and Recreation Department offers a great opportunity for youth to develop their skills, learn about sportsmanship, experience teamwork and have fun. Volunteer coaches are the backbone of the program and receive valuable training and knowledge about the sport, said Augie Perez, Mesa Recreation Coordinator. This is our fourth season partnering with the Jr. Suns program and both parents and participants have really enjoyed their experiences with us. They also really like the reversible replica jerseys.
Mesa Parks and Recreation registration fees are some of the lowest in the east valley at just $90 for Mesa residents and $105 for non-residents per participant in the Jr. Suns Youth Basketball League. The per-participant price for the Kinder Clinic is $75 for Mesa residents and $90 for non-residents. The City offers several scholarships and discounts up to 50 percent off of registration.
Mesa invites the community to be part of the program that parents have called the most organized league we've played in. To register or for more information, please visit mesaparks.com or contact Recreation Supervisor Jason Hendrix at 480-644-4452.
