Donations Needed for ABC Program in Mesa

Mesa residents can help their community during the holiday season and year-round through the ABC: A Better Community donation program. This City of Mesa initiative provides shelter, meals, and other essential services to Mesa children, families, and seniors facing economic challenges. Donating to ABC is easy. You can give online with a one-time or recurring monthly contribution to help those in need. City of Mesa utility customers can contribute by automatically donating money with their monthly utility bill payments. People can also round up the dollar on their utility bill or contribute a one-time amount.

For the 24/25 fiscal year, the City has allocated ABC grant money to three non-profit agencies:

Dress for Success Teen Workforce Initiative Career Services for low-income Mesa residents provides training for resume writing, mock interviews, job search, networking, personal branding and interview attire. The ABC funding will assist 250 Mesa residents.

"We are deeply grateful for the City of Mesa's support through the ABC Donation Grant, which has advanced our efforts to provide scholarships through our EducateHER program and support young adults via The Workforce Initiative," said Tamala McBath, CEO of Dress for Success Phoenix. "These programs equip women in Mesa with the education, skills and confidence to thrive in today's competitive job market. Our partnership with Mesa Community College, for example, has been crucial in preparing women for high-wage careers, enabling them to transform their lives.Together, we are creating a brighter future for women in Mesa."

Paz de Cristo Paz helps provide meals, food, clothing, essential items and other services to Mesa community members struggling with hunger, poverty and homelessness. The ABC funding will assist 3,500 Mesa residents.

"Thank you to the residents of the City of Mesa for supporting the ABC program. This grant, in part with other donations, has allowed Paz de Cristo Community Center to serve more than 10,000 Mesa residents in the last 12 months experiencing poverty and homelessness," said Jackie Shelley, Executive Director of Paz de Cristo. "A $5 donation can provide 12 meals to our hungry neighbors. Through this program, we are all working together on the front lines of our mission to feed, clothe and empower our neighbors in need."

United Food Bank United Food Bank provides emergency and supplemental food assistance. The ABC funding will assist 56,395 Mesa residents.

"United Food Bank is grateful to be part of the ABC: A Better Community Donation Program. This contribution has helped us to provide and distribute 300,000 mealsto local agencies and neighbors facing food insecurity in the Mesa community," said Jason Reed, CEO of United Food Bank.

During the past year, ABC donations assisted Mesa non-profit organizations with the following services:

Provided 1,092 empowerment/academic youth services
Provided 85 employment service
Provided 8,070 homelessness relief services
