April is Valley Bike Month

The City of Mesa's Bicycle and Pedestrian Program announces upcoming fun-filled events for all ages, celebrating Valley Bike Month.

April 4: Arizona Bicycling Summit is an annual event organized by The Coalition of Arizona Bicyclists and sponsored by the City of Mesa's Bicycle and Pedestrian Program. The Arizona Bicycling Summit will take place at the ASU MIX Center, 50 N. Centennial Way from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and is an annual conference for leaders, educators, advocates, cyclists of all kinds and the bicycle community in Arizona. Topics will include current issues related to bicycling in Arizona, which plays a pivotal role in promoting sustainable transportation, recreation and fostering cycling-friendly communities. Registration is required.

April 5: CycloMesa Festival is hosted by the City of Mesa's Bicycle and Pedestrian Program to bring our community together with this FREE event for all ages. The festival will be held at the Plaza at Mesa City Center, 56 E. Main St., from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and encourages our community to use alternative modes of transportation, like bicycling, and will feature live music, food trucks, BMX stunt shows, a rock wall and much more!

April 16: Bike-to-Work Day is hosted by the City of Mesa's Bicycle and Pedestrian Program to encourage everyone to use alternative modes of transportation to commute to work. The event offers participants breakfast and a social hour. The day will kick off with a group ride from Lehi Park at 7 a.m. and conclude at the Plaza at Mesa City Center for the main event. Participants of the group ride should plan to bring their own bicycles and helmets.

The Bicycle and Pedestrian Program is a part of the City of Mesa's Transportation Department. The program encourages safety in walking, bicycling and other alternatives to driving. The program offers safety classes and events throughout the year, working to create enhanced pathways that provide safe connections for everyone traveling in Mesa.
