Eligible Mesa Electric customers could save up to $70 on electric bills this summer. The City of Mesa Energy Resources Department's Summer Electric Assistance program (SEA) is accepting applications on a first-come, first-served basis for residential customers who demonstrate a financial need.
SEA is a residential utility assistance program available to current City of Mesa residential electric customers whose total household income is less than $35,961 per year. The program eliminates Mesa's monthly service and usage charges for the first 80 kilowatt hours to help eligible customers cope with higher electric summer bills. At current rates, participants can expect to save up to $23.50 per month on their July, August and September bills. SRP customers are not eligible to participate in Mesa's SEA program.
Eligible Mesa Electric Customers are encouraged to apply before May 29. Applications will not be accepted after Aug. 1. More information is available online about eligibility and how to apply.
There are several other programs to help income eligible Mesa residents with utility payments and other assistance. One is LISR (Limited Income Senior Rate Program), which offers a 30 percent discount on water bills to those 60 and older on a limited income. Another is A New Leaf's MesaCAN that provides utility and rent assistance.
More information about limited income assistance programs is available on the City of Mesa website.
