The City of Mesa is opening applications for the Mesa Business Builder (MBB) Small Business Assistance Program on Tuesday, July 8. This free, award-winning program provides small businesses with personalized consulting and expert support designed to help them grow, solve challenges and plan for long-term success.
Since the program launched in 2021, more than 490 Mesa businesses have received support. In fiscal year 24-25, 151 businesses accessed more than $350,000 in services. This included website development, business planning, customized marketing, photography, video production, tax and legal advising and more.
"We know how difficult it is to start and operate a small business. This program is designed to help owners by connecting them with experts in the areas where they need the most help," said Jaye ODonnell, Mesa Economic Development Director. "Our goal is to assist Mesa business owners to build their capacity, stabilize and then reach the next level."
Participating businesses can also take advantage of Mesa Business Builder Educates U, which covers tuition and course fees at Mesa Community College. Owners or employees can enroll in career-focused classes in 14 certificate programs. Last fiscal year, 17 students representing 20 businesses completed 100 credit hours through this opportunity.
To be eligible for the program, businesses must be located in the City of Mesa, be a for-profit company, have less than 25 full-time employees and have a Mesa General Business License or other qualifying Mesa license.
