Youth Flag Football is one of Mesa's most popular recreation programs, and there is still time to register for the upcoming season. Spots are available in the NFL Co-Ed and Girls Flag Football Leagues, as well as the Flag Football Kinder Clinic for kids ages 5 and 6.
Kinder Clinic begins Sept. 12, Co-Ed Leagues for ages 7-14 kick off Sept. 15, and the Girls League for ages 8-12 starts Oct. 2.
"Flag football is growing quickly and now being offered at the high school level," said Augie Perez, Mesa Recreation Coordinator. "We launched our girls' league last year and it was a huge success-players learned the game, built confidence and had a lot of fun. This is our fourth season partnering with NFL Flag Football, and families love the experience and really like the reversible replica jerseys."
The Kinder Clinic introduces young players to the fundamentals of flag football in a fun, supportive environment that emphasizes teamwork, basic skills and game play.
Registration fees are some of the lowest in the East Valley at just $90 for Mesa residents and $105 for non-residents in the Girls and Co-Ed Leagues and $75 for Mesa residents and $90 for non-residents for the Kinder Clinic.Scholarships and discountsof up to 50% are also available.
