February 18, 2026 at 2:07 pm

The Mesa Historical Museum is proud to announce the grand opening of the Arizona Baseball Museum, the first museum in the state dedicated solely to Arizona's baseball history.

Located in the historic Lehi Auditorium, the museum shares the story of the origins of baseball in Arizona-from early military posts and mining towns to community teams and the rise of spring training. The museum explores the birth of the Cactus League and the role Arizona communities played in making the state a spring training destination.

Visitors will see historic photographs, memorabilia, and personal stories that highlight both well-known players and the many people behind the scenes-groundskeepers, team staff, local organizers, and fans-who helped baseball thrive here. "This is a story that hasn't been told in one place before," said Susan Ricci, Executive Director. "Arizona helped shape the game of baseball - from barnstorming teams to the creation of the Cactus League. We are excited to finally give that history a permanent home."

Opening Feb. 21, the Arizona Baseball Museum provides a year-round destination for residents, baseball fans, and visitors. The museum will also offer special programs, guest speakers, and seasonal exhibits tied to spring training and Arizona baseball milestones.
