School is back in session, but Mesa Parks and Recreation has many fun and healthy activities in the coming weeks:
•Teen Volleyball - Teens can meet other teens, enjoy snacks and drinks and spend the evening on the volleyball court on Friday, Aug. 14 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Red Mountain Center, 7550 E. Adobe St. Registration is available online.
•Weekend Swimming - Skyline Aquatic Center, 845 S. Crismon Road and Rhodes Aquatic Complex, 1860 S. Longmore, which are open on Saturdays and Sundays, will stay open on weekends through Sunday, Sept. 6.
•Lap Swim - Lap swim for ages 12 and up is available at Kino Aquatic Center, 848 N. Horne, and Skyline Aquatic Center, 845 S. Crismon. Fall lap passes are $120 for adults (discounted to $90 through Sept. 7), $96 for seniors (discounted to $72 through Sept. 7) and $60 for youth ages 12-17 (discounted to $45 through Sept. 7). Registration is available online.
•Summer Birthday Party - Inflatables, miniature golf, foam, pinatas, and snow cones are part of this free community Summer Birthday Party on Saturday, Sept. 5 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Pioneer Park, 526 E. Main St.
•Skate Party @ The Plaza - Grab your skates for a free, fun-filled evening on wheels! Skate Party @ The Plaza is on Saturday, Sept. 26 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at The Plaza at Mesa City Center, 56 E. Main St. Take a break to grab a bite from the food trucks on site. Shrek the Third kicks off at 6 p.m. for a movie under the night sky.
•Celebrate Mesa - The free family fall festival includes carnival rides, bounce houses, petting zoo, face painting, City displays, live music and much more! Celebrate Mesa is on Saturday, Oct. 10 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Red Mountain Multiuse Fields South, 905 N. Sunvalley Road
•Pumpkin Splash - There are two separate Pumpkin Splash sessions on Saturday, Oct. 24 at Stapley Aquatic Complex, 5250 E. Hermosa Vista. Afternoon Harvest is from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Fright Night is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Pumpkin Splash includes carnival games, prizes and a lifeguard costume contest. Admission is $10, which includes the pumpkin, and pre-registration is required.
