Mayor Freeman's Statement on Federal Colorado River Decision

The federal decision on the Colorado River will have significant consequences for Arizona. Our state has conserved, invested and prepared, and should not be asked to carry an unfair share of the burden facing the entire Colorado River Basin. Mesa has spent decades planning for our water future by diversifying supplies, investing in infrastructure and preparing for shortage. Those investments put us in a strong position, but no community is immune from the challenges facing the Colorado River. Water is one of my highest priorities, and I will continue to fight for Mesa and Arizona. Protecting the Colorado River requires every state and water user that depends on it to do their fair share.
