Over the Labor Day holiday weekend, the Mesa Police Department (MPD) will be out conducting DUI enforcement as part of the Governor's Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) DUI Labor Day Task Force.

The MPD Traffic Unit will support this annual statewide effort beginning Friday, Sept. 4, through Monday, Sept. 7.

Enforcement hours will include:
•Friday, Sept. 4: 5 p.m.- 3 a.m.
•Saturday, Sept. 5: 5 p.m.- 3 a.m.
•Sunday, Sept. 6: Noon - 10 p.m.
•Monday, Sept. 7: Noon - 10 p.m.

The mission of the Labor Day DUI Task Force is to remove impaired drivers from the roadway, create safer streets throughout the Valley and reduce collisions involving impaired drivers. By preventing impaired driving, law enforcement can help reduce the injuries and fatalities associated with these preventable crashes.

The Mesa Police Department encourages everyone to enjoy the holiday weekend responsibly. If you plan to drink, designate a sober driver, use a rideshare service or make other arrangements to get home safely.

If you observe a reckless, unsafe, or suspected impaired driver, please report it to your local law enforcement agency when it is safe to do so.
