Mesa Hydration Donation Campaign Still Needs Water

Mesa's Hydration Donation Campaign continues to seek donations of cases of water or cash to buy water to help people in need during the extreme summer heat. Since the start of the campaign on May 5, the campaign has received donations of 358,948 bottles and $41,307 in cash.

"It's inspiring to see the generosity of Mesa residents and businesses shine through each year during the Hydration Donation Campaign," said Mayor Mark Freeman. "Whether it's a case of water or a modest cash donation, every contribution can truly be a lifesaver. I'm confident we'll reach-and likely exceed-our campaign goal."

This year's goal is to collect 500,000 bottles of water and $50,000 in cash to purchase water. Residents can donate water at various drop-off locations throughout the City. The complete list of locations is available at mesaaz.gov/H2OMesa. Cash donations are also accepted by United Food Bank.

"We're incredibly thankful for the support we've received so far - every bottle of water and every dollar truly makes a difference," said Jason Reed, President and CEO of United Food Bank. "But the need in our community is still great. If you're in a position to help, now is the time. Whether it's a five-dollar donation or a case of water, you could be saving someone's life. Every donation counts."

There have been several large donations from the business community, nonprofit organizations and residents this summer:

•Niagara delivered two semi-trucks filled with a combined total of approximately 88,320 bottles on July 29 and made another donation of 84,672 bottles on Aug. 28 to United Food Bank's warehouse
•Walmart delivered a semi-truck filled with more than 54,200 bottles of water at the campaign kickoff in May
•The kickoff also included several businesses announcing they would make cash donations totaling over $20,000, including EdgeCore, Holder, DP Electric, SRP and EdgeConnex
•Bottles for Bill and Bikers with a Purpose combined to donate approximately 12,000 bottles. Bottles for Bill recently made an additional $2000 cash donation
•Global Roofing recently made a $5000 cash donation to the campaign

"The Mesa business community has always stepped up to help this lifesaving cause, collecting water or raising money so United Food Bank can purchase even more cases," said Sally Harrison, Mesa Chamber of Commerce President and CEO. "I'm confident we will see even more generous donations of both water and cash in the weeks ahead, especially as groups rise to the challenge and match contributions to this critical effort."

The Mesa Hydration Donation Campaign runs through Wednesday, Sept. 30.
