Residents Invited to Learn How to Get Involved in Mesa City Government

Residents interested in learning more about their local government and opportunities to get involved are invited to attend the Resident's Guide to Community and Civic Engagement class on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at Mesa City Hall, 20 E. Main St., from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Hosted by the City's Community Engagement Division, this free one-hour class will provide an inside look at how residents can participate in local decision-making, explore leadership opportunities and make an impact by serving on City advisory boards.

Participants will also learn about the City's board appointment process, what to expect when serving on an advisory board and ways to become more engaged in the community. A question-and-answer session with the Community Engagement team and City Clerk staff will be offered following the presentation.

"An engaged community is one where residents feel informed, connected and empowered to participate in the decisions that shape their neighborhoods and our city," said Cynthia Ezcurra, Community Engagement Administrator. "This class is a great opportunity for residents to learn how City government works, discover meaningful ways to get involved and understand how their voices can make a difference. We encourage anyone interested in serving their community to join us and learn how they can take the next step."

Doors open and check-in begins at 5:30 p.m. The class begins at 6 p.m. followed by the Q&A session with Community Engagement and City Clerk staff at approximately 6:40 p.m.
