The City of Mesa is responding to impacts from heavy rain affecting portions of the city. City crews and public safety personnel are monitoring conditions and responding as needed.
Residents should use caution while storm conditions continue and never drive through flooded roadways or moving water. Avoid washes, low-water crossings, retention basins and other areas where water is collecting.
Sandbags are available at multiple locations throughout Mesa. Locations and information are available at mesaaz.gov/storm.
CURRENT CONDITIONS (as of 4:30 p.m.)
The following roads are currently closed.
•Higley Road south of Brown Road
•Higley Road northbound at University Drive
•Brown Road west of Power Road
•Southern Avenue westbound at Cheshire
•Southern Avenue eastbound at Crismon
•Crismon Road southbound lanes closed north of Southern
•Crismon Road northbound left turn lane closed at Southern
Those in need of traffic assistance are encouraged to contact 480-644-2160. Road closure information will be updated in the Mesa newsroom as it becomes available.
PUBLIC SAFETY MESSAGE
Residents are urged to:
•Stay away from flooded roadways, washes and low-water crossings.
•Never drive through standing or moving water.
•Avoid retention basins and other areas where water is collecting.
•Follow all directions from emergency personnel.
•Monitor official City communication channels for updates.
