Mesa Library Cardholders Borrow More Than 2.7 Million Items, Saving $24.5 Million in 2025

Mesa Public Library (MPL) cardholders borrowed more than 2.7 million items in 2025, an estimated value of $$2424.5 million for borrowed materials rather than purchased.

The numbers highlighted as part of National Library Card Sign-Up Month in September show how residents are using Mesa Public Library for books, digital resources, programs, technology and more.

"Today's libraries offer so much more than books, and Mesa Public Library is proud to provide a true range of resources, services and experiences at all of our branches," said Mesa Library Director Polly Bonnett. At Mesa Public Libraries, residents can find a wealth of resources, including shelves packed with books and movies, an extensive digital collection of eBooks, audiobooks and streaming music, movies and TV shows, all accessible from personal devices. MPL also offers free events for all ages, language learning resources and support for businesses, job seekers and entrepreneurs.

Cardholders can use Wi-Fi, computers, printers and other technology like 3D printers in the THINKspot makerspaces. The Library also offers less traditional items and experiences, including passes to local arts and cultural institutions, seeds for gardens, sports equipment, Citizen Science kits and more.

Mesa Public Library has four full-service branches:
•Main Library, 64 E. First St.
•Dobson Ranch Library, 2425 S. Dobson Road
•Red Mountain Library, 635 N. Power Road
•Gateway Library, 5036 S. Eastmark Parkway

MPL also operates the Mesa Express Library at Brady Park, which opened in 2023 and offers a collection of popular books and various self-service options.

In 2024, MPL launched the Read Runner bookmobile, a mobile library designed to make books and resources more accessible to the community.
