Celebrate Mesa Offers Fall Family Fun

Mesa celebrates the arrival of the fall season with a free family-friendly party in the park. Celebrate Mesa will feature a variety of fun games, carnival rides, entertainment and more. This annual celebration will be on Saturday, Oct. 10, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Red Mountain Multiuse Fields South, 905 N. Sun Valley Blvd.

Read on Mesa's Literacy Lane, a celebration of literacy and community, will have several community partners hand out free books and/or literacy crafts and prizes. Mesa Community College, Arizona Diamondbacks, Dignity Health and AARP Experience Corps Mesa are among the participants.

Mesa Public Library's Read Runner bookmobile, Mesa Parks and Recreation's M.O.R.E. (Mesa Outdoor Recreation Experience) and Fun 'N Fitness mobile recreation units and Arizona Museum of Natural History's MEAD (Mobile Education and Discovery) Machine will also be there offering free programs and activities for all ages.

Some of the popular attractions among adults and children alike are the Police, Fire and other heavy working City of Mesa vehicles and equipment. This includes the Mesa Police helicopter, a fire engine, a sanitation truck, a Transportation dump truck and two Valley Metro buses. City of Mesa departments will have booths to offer prizes and information. City staff will have a raffle at the information booth.

Back by popular demand for the third consecutive year will be wrestling from Phoenix Championship Wrestling featuring men and women competing from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Other activities include archery tag, Dino crew entertainment (life-like dinosaurs), a rock-climbing wall, kid's games, tot spot, bounce houses, face painting and a petting zoo. The carnival rides are free; however, age and height restrictions may apply.

Celebrate Mesa will offer live music from Guitarras Latinas and from the Disney princesses Belle, Moana and Rapunzel. Guitar groups, a Folklorico and a theater group from Mesa Public Schools will also entertain on the main stage.

Celebrate Mesa's food court will offer 20 food trucks selling everything from frybread to crepes to Mediterranean food, Mexican street food and Asian cuisine.

Arizona Disabled Sports will be selling water and glow items to support upcoming competitions for athletes with disabilities.
