October 8, 2026 at 1:27 pm

Sun Devil Football returns to downtown Mesa on Saturday, Oct. 17, as Arizona State takes on Texas Tech during a free community watch party at the ASU Media and Immersive eXperience (MIX) Center.

The game will be broadcast live at 12:30 p.m. MST on the MIX Center's large-format outdoor screen at 50 N. Centennial Way. The watch party is free and open to all ages.

This featured game-day event will include a beer garden for guests 21 and older, a food truck and giveaways from Sun Devil Athletics, including stickers, football posters and a raffle for four lower-level tickets to a remaining Sun Devil Football home game. Additional activities may be announced leading up to game day.

The watch party is part of the season-long partnership between the ASU MIX Center, Sun Devil Athletics, the City of Mesa and Downtown Mesa Association to bring free Sun Devil Football broadcasts and community watch parties to downtown Mesa.

Oct. 17 also falls in the middle of a busy weekend downtown. Mesa Music Festival will bring live music and performances throughout downtown Mesa, while ReMix the Future 2026: Play Attention, a four-day spatial design jam taking place Oct. 15-18 at the MIX Center, will offer public programming throughout the weekend.

Visitors can also take part in two free ReMix public experiences during the Oct. 17 festivities:

Saturday, Oct. 17 | Martial Arts + Motion Capture Public Demo

Beginning at 12:00 p.m.

James Sypherd, GAME faculty associate and Endless Games and Learning Lab staff member, will lead a live demonstration exploring how motion capture technology can record martial arts movement and translate it into digital environments.

Saturday, Oct. 17 | Live Action Role Playing (LARP) Public Workshop and Game Experience |

Beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Community members can learn the basics of live action role-playing and take part in beginner-friendly interactive scenarios led by Sparrow Dineen, MFA candidate in ASU's theatre program. The LARP experience will also be offered Friday, Oct. 16 beginning at 4:30 p.m.

ReMix also includes a public demonstration of the MIX Center'sEnhanced Immersion Studio earlier in the weekend as part of the Oct. 15-18 event.

Together, Sun Devil Football, ReMix the Future and Mesa Music Festival give visitors plenty of reasons to spend the day in downtown Mesa.

The Sun Devil Football Watch Party and ReMix public programming are free and open to the public. Beer garden service is limited to guests 21 and older.
